BUILDON AND RAISING MALAWI TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR KASUNGU SCHOOL
buildOn and Raising Malawi to improve quality of teaching in Kasungu with construction of new facilities.
buildOn, a US based charity Organisation is partnering with Raising Malawi to provide funds for improving learning in Kasungu, Malawi. The fund which is worth US$ 250,000 will be use to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
buildOn deputy country director Robert Chikombe said ”Under this project, we will construct two semi-detached classroom blocks and two semi-detached teacher’s house at the school.”
Chikombe also said both buildOn and Raising Malawi will seek communities commitment to continue promoting education for their children, adult literacy and for underprivileged people.
Meanwhile, beneficiaries communities will provide a committee that can oversee the implementation of the whole project. This will ensure transparency and accountability according to Chikombe.
WHY IS THE PROJECT IMPORTANT
The aim of the project will be to construct a classroom block and teachers house in the school. This will prevent students who opted to drop out from school just to help their parents due to poor infrastructure.
According to a report by ResearchGate, Concerns about the quality of primary schools include but not limited to; overcrowding, poor teacher qualifications, insufficient teaching and learning materials, high-pupil teacher ratios, and others.
Meanwhile, more players needs to come in and help assist the government in address this challenges according to Mthawira Primary Education Advisor (PEA) McBorlingal Chipriro Tandwe. While Member of Parliament for Kasungu North Madalitso Kambauwa-Wirima promise to mobile personnels to assist in the construction of the project.
The question now has to be, ”Can the government look for more partners to grow the Education sector?
